news

Sodium Sulphide is indeed a dangerous good, and extra care must be taken during its daily storage and handling.
1.Main Hazards of Sodium Sulphide
1.1 Health Hazards
Oral ingestion of Sodium Sulphide may cause hydrogen sulfide poisoning, and it is corrosive to the skin and eyes.
1.2 Release of Toxic Gas
Sodium Sulphide reacts rapidly with acids (such as common hydrochloric acid and sulfuric acid) to produce highly toxic and flammable hydrogen sulfide gas, which can be fatal even at low concentrations.
1.3 Deliquescence and Oxidation
Solid Sodium Sulphide is prone to absorbing moisture and carbon dioxide from the air, leading to deliquescence, deterioration, and potential release of toxic gas.
2. Precautions for Daily Storage of Sodium Sulphide
2.1 Storage Environment
Store Sodium Sulphide in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated warehouse, away from ignition sources and heat. The relative humidity inside the warehouse should preferably not exceed 85%.
Avoid dampness; keep the warehouse cool and dry with a moderate relative humidity to slow down the deliquescence of Sodium Sulphide.
2.2 Packaging and Sealing
Use airtight containers for Sodium Sulphide and ensure good sealing performance.
Select containers made of corrosion-resistant materials.
Classified Isolation
Strictly prohibit the mixed storage and transportation of Sodium Sulphide with acids, oxidants, edible chemicals, etc. It is advisable to allocate an independent storage area equipped with spill containment pallets.
2.3 Safety Facilities
Equip the storage area with appropriate types and quantities of fire-fighting equipment and spill emergency treatment devices.
Prepare suitable materials in the storage area to contain spilled substances.
2.4 Operational Specifications
Operators must receive specialized training and strictly comply with the operating procedures.
It is recommended to wear self-priming filter-type dust masks, chemical safety goggles, rubber acid-alkali resistant clothing, and gloves.
Stay away from ignition sources and heat; smoking is strictly prohibited in the workplace.
